"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: ATTENTION

It is my pleasure to identify with you, My name is Mr.Richard Horlan. I am the Telex department manager of First Commercial Bank London.

I got your contact as a result of search I made on internet with some information I found in the file of late Engr Thomas Laughlen. I would like to know your relationship with Late Engr Thomas Laughlen, my deceased client who died 3 years ago. He was a consultant contractor with Mobil Oil Company Ltd.

It might interest you to know that I am not contacting you officialy from my bank, but I am making this effort due to my personal concern.

I am his personal account officer and I'm making this effort due to my personal concern. But for security reasons, I am restricted by the management of my bank from giving full detail and information relevant to the fund(US$2.7m) he deposited in my bank before his death.

I need your urgent reply because if something is not done urgently, the labour of late Engr. Laughlen will be inherited by people who don't know anything about him.

Prior to your reply, I will give you direction on what you will do because I will be disapointed to see the labour of my deceased client been inherited by people that don't know anything about him.

So get back to me ASAP.
Best regard,
Richard Horlan
