"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dearest,

How are you today and how is your health, I hope fine and I also hope my letter does not come to you as a surprise. I am Mark Agbanwe, the son of the late Mr. Paul B. Agbanwe, and a student of the University of Togo.

Recently, I have received an insurance letter from the Life Insurance Company of Scotland, stating that my attention is needed at the company for the claim of my late father's insurance fund with them at the total sum of USD$5,000,000.00 (Five Million US Dollars), as the rightful hare to my late fathers empire.

Sorry, if I am bothering you with my story, but you have to know that I'm not telling you all these just for fun, rather because I really need your assistance in this matter, because I am yet a student and have no body but my poor, ill mother. Actually, my father made his ways right and made his money working very hard during his lifetime, but it turned to be that I and my mother has been suffering poverty ever since the death of my dad and since then, we have been on a family dispute with the rest of my dad's family members, just because we have refused to release information to them concerning the Insurance Fund in Scotland, after they have ceased all my father hard earned assets and funds in other bank accounts here in Togo.

Actually, I really need your assistance if I can trust you as a friend and a brother, with the impression I had after glancing through your profile. I want you to use your influence and status to assist I and my mother with this claim.

We could get you a Power of Attorney for the claim, proving that we really authorized you to make the claim on our behalf. Please respond with answer, if you will be willing to assist us.

Thank you,
Mark Agbanwe.
