"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Friend,

Good day to you,I am quite sure this email has come to you as a surprise
because I dont know you, but I want you to know that friendship begins with
just a day where two or more people meet. I was able to get your contact email
via a directory here in the UK.

However my name is William Moris and I have been working with Natwest
bank UK since I graduated from the the higher institution in the year
1992 presently I am the Head of accounts at my branch.The reason I
have contacted you is for you to assist me in pulling out a huge amount of
money belonging to a decease customer and a good friend of mine because his
account has been inactive since he died with his wife in a plane crash in year
2000.
Moreover in the next few weeks the funds will be converted to government funds
if no Inheritance claims is recieved in this bank, so I want you to stand as a
next of kin to Late Andreas.

I will be very glad if you co-operate with me as we will share the total of at
least 12.5 million pounds which was the initial deposit in the ratio of 50:50
