"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

RE: REQUEST FOR FOREIGN ACCOUNT.

My name is Dr David Coleman, the Director of field services with the United
Kingdom Oil and Gas Company here in the UK. I believe you will be very
surprised to receive this letter. Anyway, I got your contact from a friend of
mine working in the UK chamber of commerce. In 2006, the government of the
United Kingdom budgeted the sum of USD$1.2 Billion Dollars for the
installation of a new power turbine and services of Monax Axials in the
country’s oil refineries.

We are expected to give a full account of our expenditure by the end of the
2006 fiscal year. After all our expenditure, we still have an excess of over
SD$100 Million Dollars in our coffers I and my colleagues have decided to make
some money for ourselves before we retire from public service. We are looking
for a foreign partner urgently who can raise an invoice for the supply of one
Power Turbine valued at 25 Million Dollars only and we shall obtain an
approval and process the payment into your nominated account.

We are also willing to share the money in the ratio 70:30, that is 70% for us
and 30 % for you. This is strictly a deal and you must keep it very
confidential. Please if interested, kindly get back to us with the following
information.

Name....
Age......
Occupation....
Telephone Num....
Country of Residence....
Marital Status...

Best Regards,
Dr David Coleman.
