Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Dear Friend,

My name is Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu. I was the governor of Abia State in Nigeria for eight years (1999-2007) under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The ruling party in Nigeria.

During the period of my tenure as Governor, I had problem with the party on which I was elected governor (PDP) because of the various different views I had with the then President of the Country, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who was also elected on the platform of the PDP. I was in opposition to the president style of leadership which I believe was against the rule of law.

Due to the different views I had with the president, the party regarded me as a stubborn member and subsequently suspended my membership so as to frustrate my efforts.

I did not allow myself to be frustrated so I founded and floated my own political party which I named, the Progressive People's Alliance (PPA). It was on this platform that I contested the April 2007, Presidential election. Though I lost the Presidential election but my party won two of the 36 states in the governorship election. This was surprising to many observers because my party was just a new party that is just couple of months old. More so, I came 4th in the Presidential election result, despite its widespread fraud. Even the European Union observers declared that the election was marked with widespread cheating by the PDP. This gave expression to my fast growing influence in the political field in the country. This was to the envy of most leaders of my former party (PDP) including the newly elected president, Umar Yar'adua.

There is now a grand plan by the PDP to destroy my reputation and all the political structures I have built over the years. Hence they have tactically laid accusation of corruption and embezzlement against me. They have frozen all my accounts and assets all over the country. All my businesses have also been grounded by the government. My airline, Slok Airlines has been grounded and its operation license withdrawn since 2003 over mere allegation of breach of weather rule. I have gone from detention to court without any single conviction. My international passport has been seized. I cannot even travel. This is political vendetta going on.

My friend the reason why I am telling you on this is because I need your help, now that the government is confiscating anything that belongs to me. I want you to help me receive a deposit I have to the tune of about US$13,000,000.00 (Thirteen Million United States Dollars). Though nobody knows about this deposit, I want to remove the money before the government discovers it too.
