"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: From Mr. Godwin Nana

Dear friend,

With apologies for interference in your privacy, I am Mr. Godwin Nana the director of Gold Coast Mining Limited located in Ghana . I am writing you in regard to the death of my managing director, Mr. Gordon Smith the founder of Gold Coast Mining Limited here in Ghana , I got your contact through my research for any living relative of Mr. Gordon Smith.

Gold Coast Mining Limited was established for the sole purpose of purchasing Gold here in Ghana and export to different countries around the world. Unfortunately Mr. Gordon Smith died on, 31st July 2000 in a plane crash with his wife and two children on their way to New York and here is a BBC documentary about the plain crash. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/859479.stm

However, I am contacting you because of an account which he opened with a bank here in Ghana . This account held the sum of Seven million United State Dollars ($7,000,000.00 USD) and as the director of his company the bank is ready to release this fund to anyone I may introduce to them as a relative to Mr. Gordon Smith.
Hence according to the bank manager, the Account has remained dormant since his death with no one to claim the fund.

I was informed that the account will be frozen and the fund will be declared unclaimed if I cannot provide any relative of Mr. Gordon Smith as I stated in agreement with the bank authority.

I informed the relevant embassy about this situation in order to get in touch with any of his living relative but they wrote and informed me that Late Mr. Gordon Smith has no recognized relative who could come forward to claim his belongings.

Honestly, that is why I am contacting you to know if you are his relative as regards to claiming this fund from the bank, but if you are not his relative may I plead for your kind indulgence/co-operation to assist me claim this fund, since your background as a foreigner will provide us an adequate backing in claiming the fund, all I need to do is to introduce you to the bank as the relative of Mr. Gordon Smith and this is the only means we can claim ownership over this fund.

Honestly, you will encounter no difficulty in claiming this money because I have all the necessary documents to backup your claims.
Dear I request for your urgent response if you can assist me in this matter.
Kindly contact me on this address: g_nana10@yahoo.co.uk

Best regards
Mr. Godwin Nana
