"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: study grant

Dear Sir, I am Mr Alan Collard, of the Probate Wills & Trust department , COLLARD & BRIGHT solicitors. We represent Esteemed writer and BBC broadcaster Alistair Cooke, who until his death was a dual citizen of the United States and the U.K. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/tv_and_radio/3581573.stm My late client willed that 35% of the funds he had in deposit with a certain security company here in Africa, be disbursed as study grant to students globally . To that effect, each of the beneficiaries will recieve a total sum of 10,000UK pounds in form of a "study Grant" I have taken it upon myself to fulfill this request by my late client considering most especially the fact that he was both a friend and a client. You happen to be one of the beneficiaries that were selected through the internet .You are required to respond to this email immediately.Thank You.
