"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Hello

Hello
I am delighted to write this mail to you and I really hope things will work out between us. I have to a lot to tell you about myself so that at least you will start to know who I am. My name is Dayita Najif and I was born and educated in Mumbai, India. In 2002 I met and married to an Iraqi who was one of the personal aids to the former president of Iraq, President Saddam Hussen.
My husband is deceased now as you can imagine due to the crisis there, He died in 2005 when the US raided the hotel where he was hiding. However before he died he told me of a secret deposit of US$7 Million he made at a storage company. I am currently in Syria with many other Iraqi refugees but before I came here I was able to move the money which is in a trunk box out of Iraq to Ivory Coast, a small country in West Africa with the help of a friend who works at the UN.
This money was deposited in a storage company in Cote d'Ivoire as personal belongings so the people there do not know the exact content of the box. I want to know if you can help me retrieve the said consignment and help me come to your country. I am willing to give you anything you wish to make this happen as you know my life depends on it and that is the only thing I have left now.
Please let me know if you can help me so that I can give you further details about the company holding the consignment for you to contact them. I look forward to hear from you again soon.
Your’s Faithfully
Dayita Najif.
