"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: Hi dear this is patty.

Hi,
I crave your indulgence as you read this proposal and equally apologise fo=
r my English that is not perfect. My name is Miss. Patience Dugbatti a Gha=
naian by birth although my mum is from Abomey in Benin Republic.

My late friend Mr. Juricha Ruic an expatriate from Croatia working with an=
oil company in the Niger Delta part of Nigeria was murdered by militants =
in Nigeria. Before his death he had bought several landed properties and s=
tock shares worth millions of United States dollars in Benin Republic nami=
ng his only son and wife as his next of kin. Unfortunately, his wife divor=
ced him and left with the boy to an unknown destination when she found out=
about our relationship a few months before his untimely death and he didn=
=92t make the necessary changes in his documents to reflect a new next of k=
in or his ex-wife=92s current contact information thus making it difficult=
to contact his next of kin. Hence I propose to you to stand as his next of=
kin to claim these properties and dividends from the stock shares. I was =
too close to him that I have some vital documents to back up this claim so=
you have nothing to worry about.

I could have done all this myself but considering the fact that some of hi=
s associates here know me as his close friend that made it quite
impossible for me to go for the claim. Please endeavour to reply using th=
is private email: patidugb@yahoo.fr to enable me look for another person =
if you are not interested. Similar incidents can be found at:ttp://www.van=
