"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Greetings" Dear Friend

Greetings" Dear FriendDear Sir,
I am Paul Kokou, Executive Director in charge of claims and indemnity of Standard Assurance
securities .I joined the services of the above firm in 1995.The company has a strong asset base of over Four Hundred Million United States Dollars and
is a major force in Togolese Insurance Industry. I got your address during a surf on GSE
2004 chamber of commerce directory.I have this deal I will like us to talk about. In the latter part of the year 2001 I had a client by name MR. KREAZPACK RICHARDS in the
Yugoslavia who was a Gold Dealer and an offshore engineer, infact I helped him to acquire
his resident and work permit whiles he was here, so he had me as his only legal adviser on
all he did in his business.
A pathetic case that prompted my deisre to contact you is that of MR. KREAZPACK RICHARDS, a
native of the now Breakup Republic of Yugoslavia. This man was our client and has a deposit
worth Seventeen Million Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars. MR. KREAZPACK RICHARD died about nine years ago in a Helicopter crash on an offshore crude
oil exploration and has long been buried. The only known relation of his in our records
died during the civil war in Yoguslavia and ever since, all eforts made by me toestablish contacts with any other of his relation has proved unseccessful. His Deposit
Policy will expire in the next month from the date of this letter.
Just last week we received an instruction from Ministry of Social Welfare to forward
particulars of all unclaimed benefits that will expire in the next few months. It is not my
intention to allow some corrupt government officials to line their pocket this time around. The Togolese Deposit Law on unclaimed benefits stipulates under section 7 subsection 10 cap15 Laws of the Republic, that "once such unclaimed benefits have over stayed a maximum
period Five years, it should be returned and forfeited to the Government treasury. It is
disheartening to learn that instead of such funds to be properly utilized by Government,
some corrupt officials working in the ministry of social welfare often end up pocketing andenriching themselves with such unclaimed benefits as against humanritarian purposes they are
supposed to serve.
I have documents which indicates that he deposited two sealed boxes of Gold worth seventeen
million Dollars here. Well all I want us to try and do is that I will prepare you as his
Cousin and next of kin supposed to inherit his worth so that we can collect this boxes.I must assure you that there is no risk involved since I have all the documents pertaining
to the deposit including a power of attorney hence, if you are interested and will like to
be involved in this deal let me know as soon as possible so as to to give you more details
as to what to do.Please dont hesitate to contact me on any issue bothering you.Thank you and hope to hear from you as soon as possible. Please i will include my phone number 00 228 9151942 for easy communication.
