"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: LEADWAY Promotions Company

Dear friend,

My name is Dr. Jimmy Jones. I am contacting you because I have a good deal =
for both of us. I work with LEADWAY Promotions Company based here in London=
, United Kingdom. Few days ago, our company (LEADWAY Promotions Company), i=
n conjunction with REDDOT Promotion Company, conducted an online lottery he=
re in UK. REDDOT is another Promotion Company based in Germany. Their websi=
te is http://en.red-dot.org/newgallery/page.php?id=3D48&lang=3Den

I was the coordinator of the last lottery here. The draws was conducted by =
a random selection of email addresses from an exclusive list of 20,000 e-ma=
il addresses of individuals and corporate bodies picked by an advanced auto=
mated random computer search from the internet. I manipulated things and ad=
ded a particular email address which I personally created. This email addre=
ss is one of the addresses that have won the jackpot of =C2=A31,500,000 (On=
e Million, Five Hundred British Pounds Only). But the problem is that I can=
not claim the prize as all members of staff of LEADWAY promotion Company an=
d their relatives are banned from all draws conducted by our company, hence=
I need you to come in as the owner of the email address that I created whi=
ch has won the jackpot so that the prize will be processed in your name and=
paid to you.

If you assure me of your readiness to cooperate with me on this deal, I wil=
l give you the details of the email (EMAIL ADDRESS AND PASSWORD) that I cre=
ated and added draws so that you can officially communicate to us through t=
hat particular address for your prize to be processed and paid to you. An o=
fficial prize winning notification has already been sent to the email addre=
ss. As the draws coordinator, I am even the one that will personally handl=
e the processing of your price.

Once the process is completed and the payment made to you, both of us will =
share the money at the rate of 50% for each of us. If you are interested in=
this deal please contact me immediately so that we can start the process w=
ithout any further delay. Let me have your personal phone number. Please fo=
rgive me if this proposal is against your personal ethics, believe and reli=
gion.

Best regards,

Dr. Jimmy Jones.
