"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.

Subject: Hello Friend!

Dearly Beloved,

My warmth greetings to you and your family, how are you? I hope all is well. Permit me to communicate to you on who I am and the reason why I contacted a total stranger like you our of the millions of people in the world. I fasted and prayed for three days before writing this mail to you.

First and foremost I am by name Miss Jolene Igobetah, the daughter to the late Doctor and Mrs. EPHRAIM IGOBETAH of Kenya. My father was a Multi Millionaire who owns a company that supplies Animalcine (Animal Medicine) all over the world, he also has vertenary hospitals where he attends to animals, whereas my mother was incharge of sales and purchase department . I was loved by my parents and they showed me a maternal affection which I expected to be with all my life but fate has been unfair to me, I feel like comiting suicide each time I think about my parents.

It all started one day when I was kidnapped by some hoodlums who demanded US$500,000.00 from my father else they will kill me, my father will not allow them to kill his only begotten, so he gave them what they wanted and they let me go, that was how our misfortune started. Four weeks later they blackmailed my mother by margine her picture with another man in bed, they sent a copy to my father telling him that they will publish the picture unless he pay them US$1,000,000.00, my father considered the humiliation and disgrace it will be if they publish the picture so he paid them off instructing them to distroy the negative.

At that point my father requested his lawyer to investigate the people behind all these, on his investigation the lawyer was assasinated and his body threwn into the river which was found three days later. When this happend my father suspected his business associate or relatives; to that my mother asked him why he is suspecting the two parties, he said that his relatives detested him from the very day he married my mother and they are also jealouse over his progress, on the side of his business colleagues that they had a business clash two weeks before I was kidnapped. We told him to inform the police then but he said he want to be sure before doing anything meanwhile that police are investigating on the assasines of his lawyer.

After three days as the police were getting closer to the matter the assassine entered our house armed with their faces covered, they held us hostage and forced my father to sign a document which permit them to claim all his asset including money in the bank, as if that is not enough they raped my mother in our presence and as my father struggled to stop the third person they killed him, have their way and left with all the money in the house.

My mother with tears rolling down her cheeks was left half dead with the last breath she said that she could not live with such a nightmare but before she breathed her last she told me that she has the sum of US$7.5 M in a financial Institution in Ivory Coast that I should look for somebody who will help me claim the money as the beneficiary in the country of my choice because she made the deposit on an open beneficiary using me as the next of kin after that she killed herself.

It is over two months now that these happend my parents has also been buried. Therefore, why I contacted you now is to help me start life again in your country and further my education there if it's so pleases you to help me.

I wish you well in Life,
Expecting to hear from you.
Jolene Igobetah
