"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Kelly Rukavina,

How are you today? This email communication is a follow up the last email.
This is to inform you that we have verified your claims from Microsoft
International Lottery to ascertain the authenticity and the genuineness of
your winnings. Congratulations the confirmation was successful. Our main
objective is to provide guidance until you receive your prize winnings. In
this regard your unalloyed co-operation will be appreciated.

Following the confirmation and approval of your winnings your prize winning
certificate has been issued. It is a very important document in this
transaction, as you must be paid your winning prize by Microsoft
International Lottery once it is issued. It is also a legal instrument as it
can be tendered in a court of competent jurisdiction as an important exhibit
if you are not paid by the Lottery Firm.

Microsoft International Lottery also risks sanction by the regulators of
lottery in the European Union if after the issuance of the certificate you
are not paid.

Also issued is the draft for your winning. Payment of winnings is now done
through personal appearance at the head office of Microsoft International
Lottery which is located in London, United Kingdom. Prize winners are
expected to make arrangements for their travelling and accommodation.
Winners will also be compulsory required to stay for a period of 3(three)
days before the prize giving ceremony is performed. It is after the prize
giving ceremony that prizes will be handed over to all prize winners.

The dates allotted to you is 30th April to 11th May, 2008. You will be
expected to present yourself at our head office on any of these dates to
pick up your prize winnings. You are also compulsorily required to be with
the following;

1) Proper identification of yourself.

2) A printed copy of your winning certificate. (Find attached)

3) A printed copy of your notification letter.

You are therefore advised to indicate to us when would be most appropriate
for you to make a personal appearance within the dates specified to collect
your prize.

Thanks for your quick response and co-operation.

ALVARO TORRES.
