"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

*Dear Friend,

Many thanks. How are you doing today? I hope fine.
Please my name is Joseph Mensah; I am a citizen of
Republic of Ghana. I know you do not know me but i
want you to hear me and help me out. I am the first
son of Mr. George Mensah; also from Ghana. My
dad Mr. Mensah as he was popularly called died on the
12th of October last year.

According to our custom and tradition, Since I am only
20 years old and still in school, my father's elder
relation will manage his properties until any of his
living sons gets to a mature age. But my case is
different because my uncle has completely confiscated
all our properties including my dad's local gold mines
as his customary right. However, I was beside my dad's sick bed before he
died
and he gave me some secret information where he kept
some documents. I have since retrieved the documents,
which are now with me. The documents are covering 100
kg gold, and cash of $10 million he deposited in Trust
Security Company here in Ghana for safekeeping. I
noticed the deposit was registered in my name as his
living next of kin to claim the items in case he dies
but my age certainly will make it a lot difficult for
me to claim it so I must require a sponsor who will
act also as my dad's next of kin hence my purpose of
writing you. Sir we will legally perfect the change of
the documents to your name through a lawyer. My uncle
is very much aware my dad kept some items somewhere
but not sure where about. He wants my mummy and me
dead by all means. We've refused never to release
this one to him.

Please I am requesting your assistance to claim the
items as well act as our next of kin to make it
possible as to claim and ship the contents out of here
to any of your receiving address. Through my mother's
advice, I am now hiding in one of my schoolmate house
here in Accra. Please this is my only hope and I will
never let you down if only I can count on you with
trust.

You will assist me obtain travel document to meet you
and return part of the money as a gift from you. You
will take some percentage for your help. I want you to
invest some of the money there if you can, I have no
investment experience. We will apply for the service
of an attorney who will make the change of the
documents to your name as our next of kin to enable
the security company release, ship the consignment to
you as the beneficiary without my uncle knowing about
this one.

Please reply me; once I hear from you I will forward
your credentials to the Trust company and then contact
an attorney who start up with the legal steps to
retrieve the consignment from the Trust security
company for immediate shipment to your receiving
address.

I need your urgent reply please. Reply me via my
private Email:
joe20072008@terra.com) do send me also your
private phone number to call you. Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Joseph Mensah.*
