"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.

Subject: Get Back To Me Asap

Dear Honorable,

Greetings. I am Mr. Kevin White the new Foreign Project Payment Director in charge of approvals for contract payments for Economic Community of West African States (E.C.O.W.A.S) (www.ecowas.info/ghana.htm) . The Federal Republic of Ghana has through the Federal Ministry of Finance approved the sum of Twelve Million and Seven Hundred Thousand United States Dollars (US$12,700,000.00) being a Contract balance payment in favor to late Engineer (Mr. Christian Adams, Deputy director Ghana Crude Refinery Institute (G.C.R.I) who died in world trade center as a victim of 9/11 Incident that befall the United State of America with the United Flight 93 - Pennsylvania, airline passenger)

He was awarded a contract to supply Oil Pipe Line, Construction and Maintenance of 250 Million (LPG) Gas Plant at the new Refinery in this year 2000 at the cost of Two Hundred and Seventy Million United States Dollars (US$270,000,000.00). He successfully completed executing of the contract 8 years and was waiting to receive his balance contractual payment from the Economic Community of West African States the ECOWAS Ghana until his untimely death.

I am the new E.C.O.W.A.S Foreign Project Payment Office, in charge of approvals for contract payments. Before the late Engineers untimely death according to his record on my desk. It's unfortunate that his balance payment has been approved now by the Federal Ministry of Finance, while he is not alive to receive the fund. I have been in constant contact with his personal attorney to trace any of his family or relative for the claim of the fund to no avail, our effort has been unsuccessful. More worrisome is that the federal government will cancel and return back the fund into treasury account at the end of this June 2008 as unclaimed fund.

I have make agreement with his attorney to seek assistance of a trustworthy foreign company or an Individual who could help us to receive the money from the paying bank in United Kingdom for investment without, any hitch as next of kin to the late deceased. However, we have agreed to give the company or individual 40% of the total fund, while the balance will be for us. Therefore, if this offer is acceptable to you, please indicate your interest by contacting me on my private email above for further discussion.

Yours Faithfully
Mr. Kevin White.
