"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

This letter may come to you as a surprise,
Please of do note that this is not a scam.As I do not beleive in such act.All you need to know i will tell you.
I am Dr.Idris Lawal a top Government Official with a statutory Corporation and member of an ad-hoc committee set up by the Federal Government of Nigeria to review contract awarded by the immediate past administration. In the course of scrutiny we discovered that there was a grossly over invoiced contract amounting to US$41.5M (Forty One Million, Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) already approved for payment in favour of an Eastern European company that used to act as crony to former Governor of Bayelsa State (An Oil Rich State from the Southern part of Nigeria), Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, who has just been imprisoned on a six count charge of 12 years each for corruption.
