Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

• This email lists mobile phone numbers. Use of such numbers is typical for scams because they allow criminals to conceal their true location. They can receive calls in an Internet cafe from where they send you emails, while pretending to be in some office.

Re: long over due consignment on your name and favour.I am Mr. Remi Babalona, Director of Operations Federal Ministry of Finance. We apologise, for the delay in making your payment and all the inconveniences and inflict that we might have indulged you through. However, we were having some minor problems with our payment system, which is inexplicable, and have held us stranded and indolent, not having the aspiration to devote our 100% assiduity in accrediting foreign contract payments.We apologise once again. I have been instructed by the President Federal Republic of Nigeri (Mr. Umaru Musa Yar'adua to find out before the end of this month, why your consignment valued US$10.5 Million Dollars your contract part payment is still unclaimed.
However, their are two gentlemen here who came from your country to claim this consignments on your behalf and the reason giving to us is that you are the one who sent them that you are terminaly sick.
