"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

I am Barr. Roland R. Naegeli, from the Naegeli Chambers in Spain. I need
your co-operation in receiving 17.5M (SEVENTEEN MILLION, FIVE HUNDRED
THOUSAND EUROS) that has been saved in a security company for 7years as a
treasury box that contains family valuable which belongs to one of my
foreign client who died along with his entire family in a plane crash in
Kenya, East Africa.

On my investigation, I found out that he died without making a will, and all
attempts to trace his next of kin were fruitless.

The security company has issued me a notice to contact the next of kin; my
proposition to you is to seek your consent to present you as the next of kin
of my late client so that the box will be released to you and the money will
be shared accordingly in any agreeable ratio.

There is no risk at all as all the paperwork for this transaction will be
done perfectly and my position as his private lawyer guarantees the
successful execution of this transaction without a trace, please reply
immediately via this email address:
