"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

GREETINGS TO YOU=2C
=

This is a personal email directed to you and I request that it be treate=
d as such=2E I am Brain Walker=2C a personal attorney/sole executor to t=
he late Engineer Robert here in after referred to as=22 my client=22 I r=
epresent the interest of my client killed with his immediate family in a=
fatal motor accident in East London on November 5=2C 2002=2E and I will=
like to negotiate the terms of investment of resources available to him=
=2E

My late client worked as consulting engineer =26 sub-comptroller with Ge=
nesis Oil and Gas Consultants Ltd here in the United Kingdom and had lef=
t behind a deposit of Six Million Eight Hundred Thousand British Pounds =
Sterling only (=A36=2E8million) with a finance company=2E The funds orig=
inated from contract transactions he executed in his registered area of =
business=2E Just after his death=2C I was contacted by the finance house=
to provide his next of kin=2C reasons been that his deposit agreement c=
ontains a residuary clause giving his personal attorney express authorit=
y to nominate the beneficiary to his funds=2E Unknown to the bank=2C Rob=
ert had left no possible trace of any of his close relative with me=2C m=
aking all efforts in my part to locate his family relative to be unfruit=
ful since his death=2E In addition=2C from Robert=92s own story=2C he wa=
s only adopted and his foster parents whom he lost in 1976=2C according =
to him had no possible trace of his real family=2E =

The funds had remained unclaimed since his death=2C but I had made effor=
ts with intent to locate any of his extended relatives whom shall be cla=
imants/beneficiaries of his abandoned personal estate=2C and all such ef=
forts have been to no avail=2E More so=2C I have received official lette=
rs in the last few weeks suggesting a likely proceeding for confiscation=
of his abandoned personal assets in line with existing laws by the bank=
However=2C it will interest you to know that I discovered that some dir=
ectors of this finance company are making plans already to have this fun=
d to themselves only to use the excuse that since I am unable to find a =
next of kin to my late client then the funds should be confiscated=2C me=
anwhile their intentions is to have the funds retrieved for themselves=2E=

I reasoned very professionally and resolved to use a legal means to retr=
ieve the abandoned funds=2C and that is to present the next of kin of my=
deceased client to the bank=2E This is legally possible and would be do=
ne in accordance with the laws=2E On this note=2C I decided to search fo=
r a credible person and finding that you bear a similar last name=2C I w=
as urged to contact you=2C that I may=2C with your consent=2C present yo=
u to the =22trustee=22 bank as my late client=27s surviving family membe=
r so as to enable you put up a claim to the bank in that capacity as a n=
ext of kin of my client=2E I find this to be possible for the fuller rea=
sons that you are of the same nationality and you bear a similar last na=
me with my late client making it a lot easier for you to put up a claim =
in that capacity=2E I have all vital documents that would confer you the=
legal right to lay claim to the funds=2C and it would back up your clai=
m=2E I am willing to make these documents available to you so that the p=
roceeds of this bank account valued at =A36=2E8million can be paid to y=
ou before it is confiscated or declared unserviceable to the bank where =
this huge amount is lodged=2E

I do sincerely sympathize the death of my client but I think that it is =
unprofitable for his funds to be submitted to the government of this cou=
ntry or some financial institution=2E I seek your assistance since I hav=
e been unable to locate the relatives for the past four years now and si=
nce no one would come for the claim=2E I seek your consent to present yo=
u as the next of kin of the deceased since you have the same last name g=
iving you the advantage which also makes the claim most credible =2E In =
that stand=2C the proceeds of this account can be paid to you=2E Then=2C=
we talk about percentage=2E I know there are others with the same surna=
me as my client=2C but after a little search=2C my instinct tells me to =
contact you=2E I shall assemble all the necessary documents that would b=
e used to back up your claim=2E

I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement th=
at will protect you from any breach of law=2E I will not fail to bring t=
o your notice that this proposal is hitch-free and that you should not e=
ntertain any fears as the required arrangements have been made for the c=
ompletion of this transfer=2E As I said=2C I require only a solemn confi=
dentiality on this=2E Please get in touch via my alternative email esq=5F=
bwalker=40hotmail=2Ecom for better confidentiality and if okay by you=2C=
send me your telephone and fax numbers to enable us discuss further on =
this transaction=2E Contact number is +44-704-571-1062 (Calling me shoul=
d not be any problem all you need to do is to dial your country code bef=
ore dialling my number Tel=3A +44-704-571-1062) If this proposal is acce=
ptable by you=2C do not take undue advantage of the trust I have bestowe=
d in you=2C Thanks for your understanding=2E

Kind Regards=2E
