"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: (INVESTOR NEEDS A PARTNER)

Dear Prospect,

I'm Dr. Bothe, a senior government auditor with the South Africa Ministry of =
Health. This correspondence might be a surprise to you as we have never been =
in contact before. I apologize using this method of communicating with you. =
Based on an issue of this level, I got your email address through =
International Chamber of Commerce. While I am currently on a course in the =
United States, I would like to seize this opportunity to seek your assistance =
as an honest partner throughout our partnership. I have decided to ask for =
your cooperation and support to execute this partnership described below. I =
hope we will adapt this correspondence as private and confidential.
The purpose of this correspondence is as a result of fifty four million =
dollars recovered from 2007/2008 annual audit. Presently, this amount (54m) =
has been deposited in a foreign account. I need a reliable partner to =
receive this amount (54m) on my behalf as the beneficiary of the funds since =
South African Civil Service's code of conduct does not allow government =
officials to maintain foreign accounts during service. Based on these =
circumstances, I'm accepting you in trust as a relevant partner to maintain =
this account as the owner on record and your honesty would be appreciated
Please feel free to speak out if you do not like the proposal brought to =
your attention. Do not hesitate to contact me at my email address at your =
earliest possible time if you can assist and advise me through this =
partnership. I have a limited time to carry out this partnership. I can't =
accommodate any kind of exposure as a government official.
Note: All correspondence should be private and when responding, please email =
me based on the nature of this partnership for further information.
Yours Sincerely,
Dr. Bothe.
