"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Guaranteed Uk Settlement Or Visa.

Have you been Applying for a UK Visa without approval?
Are you looking for a job or school in the UK?
Are you seeking a British Passport or Permanent Residency in the UK?
Are you a Govt. Official in your Country and seeking freedom to travel around Europe at your leisure?
Consider Us (UK Border Agency) your last Stop to your search for a Visa or PR in the UK...

The UK visa operation has offices in 146 locations throughout the world. The largest handled over 170,000 applications in 2006/7; the smallest less than 10. We issued visas to 81% of those who applied. We processed 66% of visa applications within 24 hours. This is a record of which we are proud, but we aim to do even better.

We have already introduced new initiatives such as working with commercial partners to enable us to handle sharply increasing demand while also improving customer service. UK visas online application system, Visa4UK, has improved convenience and reduced processing times for customers and is now available in many overseas posts. We continually review the whole customer visa experience as we introduce new measures to ensure that we achieve our goals of supporting community cohesion and improving the UK's competitiveness as a destination.

During 2007 we implemented biometrics in our overseas posts, enabling them to take the finger scans and digital photograph of every visa applicant. This enables us to fix their identity when they apply for a visa and improve our service to low-risk customers who will experience a faster, more effective service and are better protected against identity theft. In addition, we have continued the expansion of our overseas risk assessment network, which identifies emerging trends or visa abuse through the development of analytical and profiling tools. Biometrics and risk assessment are key parts of our programme to strengthen the UK's border.

UK Border Agency, Visa Services manages 146 visa sections around the world in UK embassies, high commissions and consulates. The visa operation is self-funding through the collection of visa fees.

In 2006/7 the total income from visa fees was £190 million.

In 2006/7 we handled 2.75 million applications, 8% more than in 2005/6. Of these 66% were processed within 24 hours.

We have extended the coverage of visa4UK, our on-line application system to 80 countries. The service will be available in all countries by 2008.
