"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

From: SGT. Joey Armand Jones in Iraq.

Dear Friend,
I know this letter will definitely come to you as a huge surprise, but I
implore you to take the time to go through it very carefully as the decision
you make TODAY will go a long way to determine your future, my future and
continued/happy existence.

I am SGT. Joey Armand Jones of the US Marine for peace keeping mission here
in Bagdad, Iraq. With a very desperate need for assistance, I have summed
up courage to contact you; I found your contact particulars in an internet
address journal when I was searching for a credible private individual, organization
or a reliable company overseas, for joint business venture.

Moneys in various currencies were discovered and concealed in barrels with
piles of weapons and ammunition at a location near one of Saddam Hussein's
old Presidential Palaces during a rescue operation. For more details please
view website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/2988455.stm

I found about $30 Million US dollars sealed in two boxes and I am in keen
need of a ?Reliable and "Trustworthy? person who would receive, secure and
protect these boxes containing the US Dollars for me until my assignment
elapses here in Iraq.

For the urgent need of the money, I met a Red Cross officer who works here
in Iraq, and was about to travel to London (UK). I pleaded with him to help
me smuggle the two boxes containing the money out of Iraq to London, which
he agreed and has already deposited the Boxes in a Holding/Shipping company
in London for safe keep in my name. He left Iraq with the boxes of money
with a Red Cross chattered cargo flight going to London.

Just Yesterday, I received an email from the Holding company that I should
quickly find a way to pick up my boxes within 45 days because they are bankrupting
and would short down business after 45 days. I do not know for how long I
will remain here. However, to forestall a total lose, since the company is
closing down and the nature of my duty will not permit me to take any action,
I am ready to let go of 40% if you agree to contact the company and claim
the Trunk Boxes on my behalf as this is all I hope to make ends meet.

I have already paid the shipping cost of the boxes to the Holding company
through the aid of the Red Cross official but no shipping address was given
to them because I was waiting to give it out when I am through with my official
assignment in Iraq I.e. when I am out of Iraq and in my abode, but with this
emergency, I am left with no choice than to contact you. So, the shipping
fee should not bother you, all I need you to do for me is to contact the
Holding Company so that they can have the boxes delivered to you as fast
as possible.

Although, I replied the holding company that because of the nature of my
duty and tight schedule a friend would claim the boxes on my behalf. The
company requested that the person claiming these boxes on my behalf should
provide the below listed information to me so that I can in turn furnish
it to them so that they can arrange the shipment to you without delay. It
is for this reason that your role becomes inevitable.

Provide the information below.
Your Full Name:
Sex:
Address:
Age:
Occupation:
Telephone/Fax:
Alternative Email:

As soon as the above detail is available I will forward it to the holding
company and as well give you their contact details so that you can reach
them for the release of the boxes to you. You will have to be very discreet
/confidential about this mutually benefiting relationship, I assure and promise
you will not regret this deal. Please do not disclose it to anybody as to
protect my duty with the US Marine. We must keep a low profile at all times;
I look forward to your reply and co-operation.
For security reasons, all correspondence should come through my personal
/ private email: sgtjrmndjns@gmail.com

Regards,
SGT. Joey Armand Jones
