According to the constitutional court, the government's functions ceased once the interim president had been sworn in, but Ndong and his cabinet remained operational to oversee the country during the funeral.

Edith Lucie Bongo Ondimba,the wife of Gabon’s president Omar Bongo, who is also the eldest daughter of President Denis Sassou Nguessou of Congo, died March 15th 2009 at 1620 GMT in Rabat, Morocco where she had been undergoing treatment for several months.died after a long illness in Morocco at the age of 45,
