"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

An email address listed inside this email has been used in a known fraud before.
This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. This email lists free webmail addresses. Use of such addresses is typical for scams. Lotteries, banks and any but the smallest of companies do not normally use such addresses. Criminals use them to anonymously send and receive email at Internet cafes.

This is an official notification of funds deposited in your name. Our company, Novelmight Securities and
vaults Ltd, arranges for the safekeeping of special and valuable packages in trust for reputable clients that
are honest and trustworthy. A benefactor, whose identity can not be disclosed because of a Non
Circumvention and Non Disclosure Agreement that was signed with the said benefactor when the funds
were being deposited, made you the beneficiary of a package containing some amount of money.

The Non Circumvention and Non Disclosure Agreement signed with the benefactor mandates us to fully
divulge and disclose the benefactor's identity 18 months after you; the beneficiary has received the funds.
The total value of the funds is US$37.5M (Thirty Seven Million, Five Hundred Thousand United States
Dollars) and I can confirm to you that these funds are fully free of any liens or encumbrances and are
clean, clear and of non-criminal origin and are available in the form of CASH. The case file number is
NSV/0277/07.

However, since the death of your benefactor, some officials of our comnpany, in connivance with the bank
officials were attempting to divert the funds for themselves to an account in the Cayman Islands. It was
during an audit investigation that I was carrying out, that I discovered their plan and I have nipped it in the
bud. I was offered some money for my co-operation and assistance, but my conscience would not let me
do such a thing, knowing fully well that the wishes of the deacesed, your benefactor was for you to receive
the funds.
