"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: $5 MILLION DEAL

Dear Friend,

This deal involves the transfer of $5 Million US dollars belonging to a late business man who was based here in the UK.

The reason why i am contacting you is because of your location, and you can easily claim to be the next of kin. The man died in 1992 and no one have come to claim his money since then. All efforts to contact any relation has been fruitless as he was divorced at the time of death.

During the audit of the government account i discovered this fund and it will be moved into the government account if no one claims it after this year.

I want you to apply to the bank and caim this money as the next of kin, all you have to do is apply to the bank and call them up. I shall direct you on further details as we procced.

Soon as they transfer this money to you, you will send 50% of the money and keep 50% for your self.

Please send me your full names and contact info so that we proceed.

Regards,

Mr MICHAEL KAY
