"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.
The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "courier service" (Courier companies mentioned in 419 scams are always fake. They will have you send money to them, but won't deliver anything. )
- "chief auditor" (the name of a person or institution often appearing in 419 scams)
- "intercreditsettlement-atmdepatment@live.com" (this email address looks like addresses used in "ATM SWIFT card" scams)

has been approved and upgraded into a worldwide accessible ATM Master
Card in your favor and we have been instructed by our issuing bank for
further release to you as the beneficiary. Meanwhile, your Secret Pin
Number is 5131. The ATM Card Value is $10.5 million USD Only.

You are advised that a maximum withdrawal value of US$5,000.00 is
permitted daily and we are duly inter-switched as you can make
withdrawal in any location of the ATM payment Center of your choice
nearest to you. We have also concluded delivery arrangement with our
accredited Courier Agents for onward delivery of the ATM Card to your
door step without any further delay. In view of this development, you
are required to forward the below contact information where the ATM card
will be delivered to you: 1.Full name, 2.phone and fax #, 3.Age,
3.Gender and your Address(p.o box not acceptable).

Note that we have already paid for the Insurance Charges but we are not
allowed to pay for the delivery Fee because we don't know when you will
be contacting the office in question for your delivery; All you need to
do is to contact this office with your contact information's for
delivery without delay.

Kindly advice this Credit Settlement office of your preferred time of
delivery so that we can inform the courier service Agents to Treat as
very urgent,We sincerely apologized for all the inconveniences you might
have gone through in the past trying to receive your money.
