"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.

Bemba,Leader of the (MUL) in the DRC Congo. I am inviting you to join
me in a business transaction and eventual purchase of a Goldmine in
the Republic of Ghana.

We shall use you as the CEO of the company to be established and also
purchase of the Gold mine here in Ghana. My husband has deposited
amount of money in a financial house in Ghana and we would like to
utilize it for investment, but would need the cooperation and
understanding of an expert who is not residing in Africa.

* You will be required to travel to Accra Ghana for a meeting to sign
an agreement with me and take possession of the fund.

* You will be the CEO of the Board of Directors of the company to be
registered and use for the purchase of the Mines.

* Benefits accrue to you will be agreed upon, and included in the
agreement of partnership to be sign by both parties at Accra, we are
reliably informed that, The annual production is between 400, to 500
tons, This is supported by an audited account of current operator for
the last 3 year.

Please note that you might have to stay in Accra Ghana for five days
with me to complete the Company registrations, claim of fund, Opening
of Bank Account and eventual purchase of the Goldmine.

Also note that all documents regarding this transaction cannot and
will not be sent to you in advance for Security reasons but will be
given to you when you arrive in Accra Ghana.
