"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.
The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "please endeavor to " (a common phrase found in 419 scams)
- "million united states dollars" (they want you to be blinded by the prospect of quick money, but the only money that ever changes hands in 419 scams is from you to the criminals)
- "mbeneful@yahoo.cn" (this email address has been used in a known scam)
This email message is a "dying merchant" scam.

Greetings

As you read this, do not feel sorry for me, because it is the destiny of Everyman to die Someday. I am Mr. Jafet Ekins; I am 56 years old and a citizen of United Kingdom, resident in London United Kingdom. I was born an orphan and was later blessed in life abundantly with riches but no children. I am not a happy man because; I have no wife and children. As at now, I am seriously sick, I just came out from hospital back to my home.

I am suffering from lung and esophageal cancer, I had partial stroke which has affected my speech. I can no longer talk and half of my body is paralyzed. I send this email to you with the help of my private male doctor who is typing my request It has defiled all forms of medical treatment, and right now I have only about a few months to live, according to medical experts. I regret that I have not particularly lived my life so well, and I never really cared for anyone (not even myself). I want God to be merciful to me and accept my soul.

Hence I have decided to support charity work; this is what i want to be remembered for. So far, I have been able to gave out (USD$ 15 millions) to the hospital management to upgrade and build a new cancer research facility and a few organizations in the charity, Singapore, Algeria. Now that my health has deteriorated with badly, I can not do this myself anymore.

The last of my belonging which i deposit with a bank the of sum USD$8 (Eight Million United States Dollars) that I have in a safe keeping
company abroad, which i will want you to secure and bestow to charity organizations.
