"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.
The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "demurrages " (this will cost you money - be careful with upfront payments to anyone you only know through email, especially if they promise you a lot of money. NEVER send money by Western Union or MoneyGram to people you do not know personally - NO EXCEPTIONS! Instant wire transfer services are not meant to be used with strangers because they offer no protection against fraud. That is precisely why the criminals want you send money that way. )
- "the consignment" (they want you to be blinded by the prospect of quick money, but the only money that ever changes hands in 419 scams is from you to the criminals)

- "the diplomat " ("diplomats" who perform deliveries of cash or other valuables to you only exist in 419 scams)
- "liberia" (a location commonly mentioned in 419 scams)

Subject: Greetings!!!

Greetings!!!

First and foremost I want to introduce myself to you. My Name is Gomez and
Tina Palati Son/Daughter of Late Mr George Palati. I am 17yrs old Boy and
my Sister is 14yrs. We are From Liberia Our Father was killed by some
rebels during the war Crisis in Liberia. So we ran to Ghana for our
security. My consignment contains $14 million United States dollars and
some quantity of gold and Diamond, which I cannot specify. The
consignments are presently in the STATE (USA). The consignment gets to the
State through the help of a U.N diplomat Diplomat Dr.Peter Lamptey. The
fact is that Dr.Peter Lamptey is supposed to have delivered this
consignment to Mr. Womack Hardee in the USA.

The week Dr.Peter Lamptey was suppose to deliver the consignment to
him,when he got to the State after clearing the consignment from the
Airport, he call Mr. Womack Hardee to tell him the description to is
house for the delivery, but is House Helper answered the call and told
Dr.Peter Lamptey that Mr. Womack Hardee hard a fatal car accident which
lead to his death some few hours later.

Mr. Womack Hardee has already paid the demurrages from the security
company, and he paid for custom check report he also assisted us in
getting the DRUG / ANTI TERRORIST CERTIFICATE, which is so expensive that
he spent 25 thousand dollars to acquire it, but unfortunately he died in a
car accident, that was why Dr.Peter Lamptey has to deposit the consignment
with a ware house over there in the State and called us to informed us
about what is happening.

Please my sister and I seek for you to stand as our Beneficiary/God Loving
Parent to get in contact with the Diplomat so that he can be able
to deliver the Consignment to you.

Please, Contact Dr.Peter Lamptey on time and get back to me through mail.
