"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.
The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "the consignment" (they want you to be blinded by the prospect of quick money, but the only money that ever changes hands in 419 scams is from you to the criminals)

- "courier company" (Courier companies mentioned in 419 scams are always fake. They will have you send money to them, but won't deliver anything. )

Dear ,
I bring to you today the best news of your life which is the funds has been successfully shipped to you through one of our courier companies because i found out today that transfering the funds to your bank account will raise the eye brows of the Authorities like the IRS,FBI etc ,so the best way to get the funds over to you was to register it as a computer accessories with one of courier companies.
I have been running up and down trying to get this completed before emailing you that was why i had no time to send you an email this morning ,but finally i did it successfully and below are the details of the consignment funds that was shipped to you .
Name of Courier Company:Citi Courier Company.

Please go to the website above and track your consignment immediately,you are to receive the consignment at your door step tomorrow morning according to what the courier company told me today after the registration was completed but another precaution i need you to take is this ,you must not allow anyone open the consignment for any reason because it was registered as computer accessories so you must not allow anyone open it because if they open it and see money inside it will bring a problem unto me and the courier company and yourself ,so please keep this to yourself.'
All things been equal tommorow you will recieve the consignment funds and once you recieve it you use this seceret code 4545 to open it ,and as for the funds in it ,you deposit it gradually to your account and not deposit all at the same time.Please reply and ask me any question if you have ,if not i wish you all the best and Congrats.
Please email me tommorow after recieving the consignment and always track the consignment everyday to know its position please.
