"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: ATTN: DEAR BENEFICIARY,YOU HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE WRONG OFFICIALS

From: Mr. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi
Governor Central Bank of Nigeria
Attention: Beneficiary
Nov 15th, 2010.

Be informed that the Central Bank of Nigeria has cleared and approved a part payment of your pending contract/inheritance claim to you.

This is as a result of the Government step to sanitize the battered image of the country and also to show appreciation for the recognition of the new President of Nigeria Dr. GoodLuck Jonathan by world leaders including Barrack Obama of the United States of America and other world powers.

The total sum of US$2,750,000 has been approved for you. However the mode of payment is by Swift Payment ATM card, this is to discourage extortion by fraudulent individuals in the system that will be asking you to pay for various charges.

Kindly re-confirm the following as soon as possible to enable us expedite action and effect payment to you within the shortest possible time

1. YOUR FULL NAMES:
2: ADDRESS:
3. TELEPHONE NUMBER:

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

kind regards,
