"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

I am Mr. David Samuels, the director, audit and account department of my Bank here in Madrid, Spain. With due respect and regard. I have decided to contact you partaining to a business transaction that will be of mutual benefit to both of us at the end.
 
During our investigation and auditing in this bank, we came across a reasonable sum of money belonging to a deceased person Mr. Peter Everett who died in May 2nd, 2004 in a car accident with his entire family on their way back from France where they went on holiday.. Since the incident, his account has been dormant with this Bank and none of his extended family members has come up to lay claim to the fund even as I write.
 
The said amount is $27.8Million As it may interest you to know, I got your impressive information through yahoo search on foreign business relations here in Spain. I am soliciting for your permission to present you as the next of kin to the deceased. I have put in place condition suitable to procure all approvals necessary for the transfer of the money to a foreign bank account if you grant me the permission to do so. The information needed will be relayed to you as soon as you indicate your interest and willingness to assist me in this great business opportunity.
 
On smooth conclusion of this transaction, you will be entitled to 30% of the total sum as your share, while 70% will be for me and my associates here in Madrid. I want to use this opportunity to advice that this proposal should be held in absolute confidence as I am still in service and intend to retire from service after we conclude this deal.
 
I will be monitoring the whole situation here in this bank until you confirm the money in your account and ask me to come down to your country for sharing according to our agreed percentage as indicated above; and further investment either in your country or any country you advise me. All other necessary information will be sent to you when I hear from you.
