"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Our discussion

Sir/Madam,
My name is James Onanefe Ibori Jr., and I am sending you this email from UK.
I am 24yrs old, the only son and first child (of four children) of the erstw=
hile Governor of oil rich Delta State, of Nigeria from 1999 till 2007 when h=
e completed his second term in office.=20

My father has been persecuted by his political detractors since he left offi=
ce.
They got the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Nigeria to drag=
my father to court, accused of stealing over US$290 Million.=20
Fortunately, the court in Asaba cleared my father of all the charges.=20
They also got a British court to indict my father for embezzlement and money=
laundering. The British court indicted my father and froze all his assets h=
ere in UK.=20
Today, all my father’s assets and accounts in and outside Nigeria have =
all been frozen on the behest of the Nigeria Government.

Our ordeal could take a whole day to narrate. But the short and long of it i=
s that my father was recently arrested in Dubai, on the behest of Nigeria go=
vernment and the British Government who want him to be extradited to Nigeria=
and UK respectively, for trial.
It is in all major news outlets. You can read more in the following news art=
icles.=20

http://allafrica.com/stories/201004141005.html[2]

I am contacting you today on the agreement and instruction of my family.
My father has US$11.5M stashed away in the vault of a private security and v=
aults company in South East Asia. This is actually why the fund is still saf=
e till now.
If it were deposited in a bank account, surely, the Nigerian government and =
the forensic accountants they hired would have located and seized it by now.

So my father has instructed that we should urgently scout for a reliable per=
son who would receive and keep the US$11.5M in safety till things settle dow=
n.=20
We need you to receive and invest this money for us in safety and confidenti=
ality.=20
You would take 10% as your compensation, while you would invest and manage t=
he remaining 90% for us if you have the skill and experience. Otherwise, you=
would open and keep it for us in an escrow account.

I will disclose the exact location of this fund and all necessary informatio=
n to you as soon as you positively acknowledge this email.=20
Our financial situation is now very critical and this fund is everything to =
us now. So we want to be extra careful while we ask that you maintain the co=
nfidentiality of this email.=20

My father did not embezzle any funds and my father did not engage in money l=
aundering.=20
The simple truth of the matter is that my father is being persecuted because=
he campaigned vigorously that states should have greater control over the n=
atural resources in the states, or bigger share of the revenue that accrues =
from these natural resources if the federal government should insist on abso=
lute control. That was his sin.=20

Revert to me by email. And my telephone number is: +447031866335. You can re=
ach me anytime.=20

Anticipating your prompt response.=20

Yours sincerely,
J.O. Ibori Jr.=20
