"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.
The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "million united states dollars" (they want you to be blinded by the prospect of quick money, but the only money that ever changes hands in 419 scams is from you to the criminals)
- ",000,000" (they want you to be blinded by the prospect of quick money, but the only money that ever changes hands in 419 scams is from you to the criminals)
- "00,000.00" (they want you to be blinded by the prospect of quick money, but the only money that ever changes hands in 419 scams is from you to the criminals)
- "your urgent reply" (scammers rush victims so they don't have time to think properly)
This email message is a "dying widow" scam.

My Dear Beloved in the Lord

Good day to you and your family, My Name is Yuve Petrov Jnr,The son of
late Mr Yuve Petrov Snr and Late Mrs. Rita Petrov who was an Oil
Merchant and international business woman before she died in the year
2007 after a brief illness that lasted for only five days.My Father
(Yuve Petrov snr) later died in an Automobile accident. Before the
Untimely death of my Parents we were born again Christians. Since
their death I Have been living in my parents house with their
relatives.They have been very cruel and have squandered almost all my
parents wealth on their own personal needs.I barely get anything from
them and i have to manage whatever i am given which is very meagre.
When my late Mother was Alive she deposited the sum of ($90,000,000.00
USD) Ninety Million United States Dollars with a Bank in Ghana for
real estate business and the bank whose name is witheld Until we open
up communication,this money is still with the Bank till date.I know
about this money bacause i was with my mother when the money was
deposited and i also knew most of her business deals.

Recently,I have decided to Transfer this money out of Ghana and donate
some of the fund to a Charitable organization through a Trusted Person
that will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct
herein,according to the desire of my late mother Before her death. I
don't want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly
Way.This is why I am taking this decision. Exodus 14 VS 14 says that
"the lord will fight my case and I shall hold my peace".I don't need
any telephone communication in this regard because of presence of my
parent's relatives around me always.I don't want them to know about
this development and i want you to know that With God all things are
possible.

Note: Once i recieve your email back then i will introduce you to my
parents personal account officer to proceed with you because i might
not be able to write you when you need an answer to any question you
may want to ask so my account officer will be there to tell you
everything (Mr John Wright).

Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I Stated herein
while i am Hoping to receive your urgent reply.
