"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.

Dear Friend,

My name is Sergeant Major Miller Smith a British soldier, I am on a foreign service with the British Coalition Force in Iraq.

Presently am Undergoing a medical treatment here in Iraq caused by a bomb blast which led to amputation of my leg in the

forefront of battlefield. I and my superiors moved part of discovered funds belonging to fleeing regime leaders in Iraq. We

have shared the money and my total shared amount is $7,500,000 US dollars only.

I gave a British Red cross official with a Diplomatic Immunity who came on duty here $100,000 US dollars from the money to

move the money out of Iraq to a secured Finance company. The balance of $7,400,000 US dollars has been moved out of Iraq

successfully with his help and it is safe with the Finance company in a secured location in London. I will disclose details

of the Finance company to you later if you are interested in this deal only if you feel that you can handle the transaction

sincerely.

Basically, the security company is urging me to come and move out the money from their custody, in this regard I have decided

to look for someone to help Me relocate and keep this funds for me possibly for investment purpose once I am discharged from

the Hospital, that is why I have contacted you, so that you can keep it for me in your safe custody until I complete my

treatment. I am willing to give you 30% of the money($2,220,000), while 70% will be for me once you assure me that the money

will be safe under your custody. This business is confidential, and it should not be discussed with anyone. Again it is not a

must that you will accept my request. I am only giving you a business proposal which can benefit both of us.

There is no risk involved whatsoever on this deal as it is only me and the British red Cross official that moved the money

knows the present location of the money. If you are interested I will send you operational detail and how you can contact the

Finance company so that they can deliver the money directly to you.

Finally, this money is my reward for the pains and sufferings which I am passing through here. Please don't reply me if you

immediately.

Hoping we can do something better with a mutual understanding as I am a bit incapacitated now due to my amputation.
