"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Dear Friend (Very Urgent)

Dear Friend

I am writing to you based on the recommendation I have obtained from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees here in Accra in respect of enquiries I have made as regard getting a foreign interest for a business partnership. Thus I had to make direct contact with you.
I am male, 21 years and a citizen of Côte d'Ivoire but presently in Ghana as a Refugee due to the recent crisis in my country. During the very recent crisis in my country, my father who was a major Cocoa Exporter and a confidant of Ex-President Gbagbo was shot by the rebels. He was rushed to the Hospital by the United Nations Peacekeeping Force but before Medical help could come to him, he died. After his very sudden death, I in company of my mother and only sister were able to lay hands on some very vital and sensitive documents relating to his assets overseas. Majority of these assets in cash totaling $7,935.000.00 were lodged in a Finance & Security Company here in Accra - Ghana. Contact was immediately made with his Attorney here in Ghana who facilitated the whole process in concert with my late Father and I and my mother immediately proceeded here to see the Lawyer. The Attorney then produced some documents relating to the deposit funds and my father clearly stated me as the inheritor or Next of Kin to
As a Refugee and Foreigner in this country, we went to the Finance and Security Firm in company of the Lawyer to retrieve the Assets. This has however been handed over to us but because of the problems in my country, I cannot go back there. The School I attend, British International School, Abidjan is closed down also due to the war. So right now I have left the Refugee camp and I am staying in an Hotel because I can afford it. I have just bought also a big Jeep and living a life of luxury which is not in conformity with my future aspirations and the dreams of my Late Father for me. My future goals is to go to school, get a University Degree and build on my fathers assets which I am presently squandering. So I need your advice and assistance on the best way to invest these funds and also the good schools I can pay for and attend in your country. I have discussed with my mother and she is totally in support of my plans and we have decided to make you the beneficiary to receive the funds on our behalf in yo
I will also want you to provide for me your full names & Address and Direct Telephone Nos.
Please I have told you everything because of the recommendation I got from the UNHCR .Do not betray me because I am counting on you. I have so much money but no direction. If I do not make immediate amends right now, I will be doomed in the future. This has happened to so many before and I really need to guide against it. Please write me as soon as you receive.

Yours truly,
Nana Ceps Adjei
