"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN.

NOTICE FROM THE DESK OF PRINCE PAT ADEYEMI CHAIRMAN, FINANCIAL SERVICES AUTHORITY (FSA).

WARNING! WARNING!! WARNING!!!

ATTN: TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN.

I want to use this medium to officially introduce myself. I am the chairman of The Financial Services Authority (FSA). We have been given a wide range of rule-making, investigatory and enforcement powers in order to meet our four statutory objectives. In meeting these, we are also obliged to have regard to the Principles of Good Regulation. The Financial Services and Markets Act gives us four statutory objectives: market confidence: maintaining confidence in the financial system: public awareness: promoting public understanding of the financial system: consumer protection: securing the appropriate degree of protection for consumers: and the reduction of financial crime: reducing the extent to which it is possible for a business to be used for a purpose connected with financial crime.

I want to use this medium to assure you that this office was established a s a result of several complaints of uncompleted inheritance/contact transactions that we have received in our office in the past couple of days since this new Government, and that we have the modalities in place to ensure that you receive the funds without any possible hitch or delay. On behalf of the entire members of the financial services authority, I hereby apologize for the delay in transferring your finds to you all these while. I must use this opportunity to inform you that it is due to the incompetence and gross negligence on the part of your former representatives in your funds transfer and you are advised to stop all communications with anybody or bank that was involved in your funds transfer as they will never get your funds released.

The Financial services authority will henceforth monitor and supervise your funds transfer and ensure it is released to you within 3 working days once there is satisfactory evidence that you have met all conditions for international transfers of this magnitude. Be informed that this body (Financial services authority) is not a bank or any other form of financial institution and should not be regarded or referred to as such. This unit was set up by the Nigeria Government in conjunction with the United Nations to clear all held funds in the banking database for final processing and actual effecting of payment to approved beneficiaries. We have a limited time to work with and tender report to the United Nations after wards.

To actually effect this payment, we need you to pick your choice from the under-listed modes of payment. Once you pick an option of payment, it will be noted in your payment file, in turn we will provide you with the procedures and requirements involved in the payment mode you have chosen. Note that whatever option you choose, the funds will be released to you within 3 - 4 banking days as long as you meet with the requirements. The payment options are listed below:

BANK TO BANK WIRE TRANSFER
VISA CARD
CASH PAYMENT

Note: No payment option is bad, rather they are all good but it has to be your choice. We advise you to comply with our payment instruction. Failure to do so will amount into
Confiscation of the fund and with your information in our custody. we will Involve the Interpol to investigate your claim because this new Government is using this medium to reduce crime in this country.

Your prompt compliance will enable us serve you better.
11- 05 – 2011.

YOURS FAITHFULLY
PRINCE PAT ADEYEMI
CHAIRMAN, FINANCIAL SERVICES AUTHORITY (FSA).
FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.
