"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Friend,

I am Mr. Joe Goodmann [Solicitors] the principal attorney of Joechambers of Cross-Border Legal Practice Practitioners, entry clearance for Highly Skilled Migrants, sole representatives of foreign companies, businessmen or those with self-employed status and licensed by the Law Society of Wales, a Christian and a citizen of United Kingdom, an attorney to late Richard Lim (foreigner) who is an Engineer with an Oil Company here in UK. Late Richard Lim has an account with Citibank International Plc, United Kingdom.

I received a memo early this year from the Bank remittance department for an interview about US$9.5M that belongs to my client Late Richard Lim, the bank informed me on their policy to freeze the account of Late Richard Lim, I was asked to redirect the (US$9.5M) back to government treasury because they saw no Next of Kin in his entire file within the bank and his account has been dormant for years which is against the policy of the Bank.

I am contacting you because of the need to involve a foreigner as the foreign beneficiary to that fund. I will give you further details on the entire process when I receive your positive response.

Thanks and I wish to have a long and profitable relationship with you!

Regards,

J Goodmann & Co. [Solicitors]
Cross-Border Legal Practice.
