"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

I am the new Director of Foreign Operations here in our bank (STFB) I was going through the unclaimed fund file and I saw your file with your unclaimed fund of $3.5M, please let me know if you are aware of this fund with us. This fund originated from either from your Email lottery winning or some Bank Officers have contact you to Assist them in receiving inheritance claims which you have unsuccessfully made claims to in past, due to the fact that those that tried to transfer the fund to you in the past did not follow the right procedures. I have met with the top management staffs of the bank and we have agreed that your fund will be transferred to you this time around without any hindrance, and upon your receiving the money in your account, you will compensate us with 20% of the total sum.
