"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "a security company " (this will cost you money - be careful with upfront payments to anyone you only know through email, especially if they promise you a lot of money. NEVER send money by Western Union or MoneyGram to people you do not know personally - NO EXCEPTIONS! Instant wire transfer services are not meant to be used with strangers because they offer no protection against fraud. That is precisely why the criminals want you send money that way. )
- "trunk box" (they want you to be blinded by the prospect of quick money, but the only money that ever changes hands in 419 scams is from you to the criminals)
- "offshore account" (Banks mentioned in 419 scams are always fake (real banks don't communicate using mobile phones or free webmail addresses))
- "abidjan" (a location commonly mentioned in 419 scams)

Greetings Dearest,

Please do not see this as one of those scam email that you come across daily. This is real and I am contacting you with a Godly heart.

My name is Mrs. Cristina Victoria Scollo,I am from Argentina, but currently written from United Kingdom.

I am the wife of Late Mr Latura Scollo who was a wealthy businessman who deals in, Oil, Gold and Diamond,He was kidnapped and later assassinated in November 2008.

After the ransom they demand was paid and still they killed him, Please do not misunderstand my writing you which is due to my current situation .

I am writing you due to what I have suffered here by my late husband’s family in connection with the government because his only brother’s wife is a relation to the Vice president of Argentina. The brother asked me for all the assets of my late husband for him to be in charge which I refused but was forcefully taken away from me leaving me with nothing and these lead to my rejection and attempted murder on my life which made me elope with my daughter and came into Uk.

Before my late husband's death, he deposited some money in offshore accounts and Security Company,He deposited $9.6Million USD which is in a trunk box, also in the box there are documents of financial assets worth millions and also diamond in a security company in Abidjan.

I am contacting you because after going through your profile and several fasting and prayers, I was moved to call on you for help.

I want you to help me in securing the money since I am not in a position to do this now due to my current health problem and also now I am leaving in absolute hardship because they stripped me off all my late husband’s assets and left me with nothing. I was able to elope to UK with my daughter out of my little personal savings and I am currently working as a nanny staff in here in UK.

I want you to know that I am contacting you base on trust and I hope you will not betray me when you claim this money.
