"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.

This email lists free webmail addresses. Use of such addresses is typical for scams. Lotteries, banks and any but the smallest of companies do not normally use such addresses. Criminals use them to anonymously send and receive email at Internet cafes.

Subject: GOLD BUSINESS

Sir,
My name is Mr.Kingsley Quaye, we mine gold from Atuabo village Tarkwa in
western region Ghana. I am in search of a reliable person. I believe to
establish business relationship with you. We come to agreement and
negotiated with an Agent (Broker) who assisted us to contact a gold buyer
from the United States of America to buy the gold based on CIF.

The Agent propagated shipment to the United States with his money and
contacts to USA because we are not fully into exportation, we are local
miners in the rural area, ever since he arrived USA with 67kilos of gold
few days ago, unfortunately before the Agent arrived United States with the
Gold, the buyer has been declared bankrupt by his local bank, and so he was
not able to buy the gold, our initial contract agreement with the buyer is
that the Agent will facilitate shipment, when the gold arrives, the buyer
will send money to the Agent for Airport customs declaration over there in
USA and clearance so that the Agent will clear the gold and deliver it to
the buyer's nominated refinery.

The Agent is currently in United States of America with the 67 kilos of
gold, please our proposal is, if you are interested in buying the gold,send
me your phone numbers for communications, the Agent will contact you and
detail you on the clearance at the USA airport customs to release the Gold
and then you will advice the agent how he can deliver the gold to your
nominated address or refinery.

Please Note: Alluvial gold dust. Origin is Ghana, Purity is 96.8 and the
carat is 22+, after smelting for Assay, you will get 23+ carat.The price
and mode of payment can be negotiated thereafter. I want to know if you can
help my family in generating the stated mining machines,our good intention
is that when you receive the gold and confirm the quality you will use the
money you suppose to pay us for the gold and buy mining equipments for us
and ship them to us here in Ghana. We will let you know the types of mining
machines we need when the agent deliver the gold to your address or
refinery. I wait your reply.
