"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Sequel to the meeting held on the 4rd of January 2013, I write to inform you that the Office of the Presidency and Members of
the house of senate have authorized me to contact you for your inheritance or contract fund which is long over due forpayment. The House members of the Senate, on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,under the auspices of the THE  NEW PRESIDENT and the Governor of Central Bank Of Nigeria held a meeting in last quarter of the year 2010 concerning both foreign and local contractors/inheritance payment.
 
On going through files yesterday, we discovered that your file was dumped untreated , so at this juncture, we apologize for the delay of your payment and advice that you stop forthwith  communication with any office or government parastatals now.
 
In furtherance to this,your new Payment Reference  No:-35460021,Allocation No:674632 and your immediate telex confirmation No: -1114433. Having received the above stated payment codes,you are advised to keep confidentiality of these codes to avoid complications.
 
You are directed to contact the Director Foreign Payment Division (F.M.F) [ Patrick Graham] immediately and also re-confirm to him your banking co- ordinates to avoid mistakes and enable the onward transfer of your overdue fund into your bank account.
