"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Charity

Dear Friend,
Peace to you in the name of the Lord. My name is Mrs. Jane Greg, You should have no cause to worry about message to you hence i am doing this because of the position i suddenly find myself.
As i write you this mail, I have serious tears of sorrow in my heart that i have done almost everything to keep only my self happy without looking into investing on charity work or Kingdom service. After the final diagnosis on 3 Feb.2013 with new confirmation that i have an active and malignant disease Cancer, the disease is expected to run its course and i was told that i have only one year to live.

I have decided to donate my inheritance from my husband to you for charity work in areas like homeless children Haiti or for kingdom services. No doubt, you may wonder how I got to know you and your email/names and what informed my decision to will my fortune to you, when I have lots of people I know better to whom I should have willed my fortune here.

I am presently in a private hospital care unit living with the help of caregiver, where i am using part of the money to set up a charity project in Africa .Today i am receiving palliative care and will need your prayers always . I am opportuned to have this message send to you today through the internet facility here. My instruction to the nurse is to search for information of a reliable and competent hand capable of completing the charity project because I cannot sort on my own due to partial stroke. On deciding to donate my fortune to an individual who will continue the charity work, my instruction to her is as many as 15 individual profiles at random and to conduct randomized sampling on the profiles and whosoever the profile is chosen shall donate my inheritance to, hence your profile was chosen.

It may interest you to know that I am 53 years old and have been diagnosed of (malignant neoplasm) acute cancer for about 2 years now and now the cell is at the metastasis stage shortly after the death of my husband, which made me hypertensive and resulted in stroke. We had no child and all these presently makes me have the understanding that life is without meaning and hope has since eluded me. Therefore, I am donating my fortune to you based on information from the nurse and because my husband and I never had any child, despite all our attempts at child-bearing.

As the day passes each day I give my entire existence a thought, I feel over-powered by gloom and despair and saw nothing but death lurking around. All these are my reasons for deciding on using anything in my name for charity in which co-incidentally you have been favored as the beneficiary. I must tell you that I was truly touched by my inner mind to take this decision.

Moreso, if this inheritance is willed to people i know instead of a stranger, i have fear that my husband relatives will engage the beneficiary in litigation (court case) out of greed, claiming the donation is without their consultation and consent and to that extent my decision is null and void, and they may use their connections and influence to reclaim or recover it, a thing I hate to imagine! I will therefore like to have the power of attorney be handed to an attorney instructing what to do to make sure that you are protected. It is as well not the wish of my husband to let his relatives enjoy his hard- labored wealth because he was ill-treated.
I did not forget what will be your benefit for the time and your expertise as you are doing this because i am the one that choose it. I will be giving you 10% of the total money while 90% will be directed to the charity work.
Please, note that, because I do not want my husband's relatives, who have spies all around me, to know of the latest developments, coupled with my worsening health condition, I shall not entertain phone calls and conversations.
