"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

My name is Daniel Gros; I am the General Manager, Division of International Supervision and Compliance Affairs; for National Deposit Insurance Fund For Depositors and Investors (NDIF).
 
This notification is being sent to you in accordance with Section 76.201 of the Unclaimed Property Code. Are you aware that the NDIF is holding your funds that has been unclaimed? The funds held in the total sum of US9,256,000M USD only was unpaid funds help/deposited under the closed/defunct Bank of Credit & Commerce International (BCCI). The NDIF protects depositors' funds in the unlikely event of the financial failure of the paying bank.
 
WHY WE HAVE CONTACTED YOU?
We have contacted you because as we continue to recover Unclaimed fund deposits under the failed and closed Banks, the NDIF Board has identified you as one of the beneficiaries to the closed/default banks deposit. Verified information in the Liquidator’s Certificates and Deposit Registers confirmed your fund has been kept in the bank vault of one of the apex houses as an unclaimed property since July 2009 when the bank was closed.
