"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

FROM Barrister B.O. Okoroh.
The most Oil-rich Nation West Africa.

Greetings.
I am writing this email from Nigeria in West Africa. This email is
necessitated by urgent business plans. I am a lawyer in private
practice. I happen to be very close to a government minister whom I had
dated previously while I was in college. This minister has enormous
trust in my person and confides so much in me. He wants to run for
governorship in his state in the 2015 elections and as a result, he has
thought up a means of raising enormous funds to finance his ambition.
I have contacted you in confidence because this is a very legitimate
deal. I have not written to anyone else and until I receive a response
from you, I may have no reason to do so. The minister has proposed a
partnership with a foreigner whom he can secretly assist in winning
government contracts here with his influence as the one that directly
approves these contracts. As a senior government minister, he is
prohibited by law to seek, execute, assist or influence any individual
or company in winning these government contracts. this is why he wants
to do so discreetly using me as a trusted contact to liaise with the
foreigner and conduct the relevant procedures.
Our government contracts are highly competitive and as a result, there
is a serious scramble by foreigners to secure these contracts as they
are legitimately inflated by as much as 100% the actual value in most
cases. Due to the very competitive nature of these contract bids, most
foreign contractors who bid do not succeed in winning a contract.
Instead they would eventually settle to buy over contracts won by
successful bidders who may have no intention of executing the contracts
they have won. It is also legitimate to sell government contracts here,
all that the buyer needs do is to have the contract agreement and
payment information changed to their name.
The plan is to have you as a foreign partner and then have you bid for
these government contracts (your physical presence will not be required
at the bidding since bidding can be conducted through local law firms
here). With the minister's internal and secret influence, you will be
awarded any contract bid for. After the award, I will assist in getting
a buyer for the contract at 30% the total value (this is the norm here).
Once sold, you will retain 15% and then return the other 15% value to a
bank account that would be designated to you when due arrangements have
been completed. It is as simple as that with no strings attached. It is
also a very clean and legitimate deal.
The only reason it will be done secretly is because of the official
position of the subject and our laws which prohibit his involvement.
These contracts may range in value from several hundred thousands to
several millions in United States Dollars. However, according to the
minister, he shall choose contracts with reasonable income values from
which you both would easily benefit.
Please let me hear from you to know what you think and also if you have
any questions. If you could spare the time, visiting here to meet
secretly and discuss with the minister would be very much appreciated.
Meanwhile, if you cannot make the trip, we could still arrange things
properly through other means.
Please contact me to know your position even if you may not be
interested. A response from you would enable me know the next step to
take as I have contacted just yourself alone. Kindly treat as
confidential.
Sincerely,
Barrister B.O. Okoroh.
