"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Please Very Urgent

Hello

I'm sorry for this odd request because it might get to you too urgent but it's because of the situation of things right now, I'm in a terrible and horrible situation right now in Glasgow, Scotland. I came down here for a short Business trip unfortunately I was robbed at gun point last night, The situation seems worse as bags, cash, credit cards and mobile phone were stolen at GUN POINT, It's such a crazy experience for us,  I need help paying my hotel bills and flying back home, the authorities are not being 100% supportive but the good thing is that I still have my passport but don't have enough money to clear all my bills and get my flight ticket back home, please I need you to loan me some money, I will reimburse you right as soon as I'm back home. I promise

Regards,

Butch Marasigan
