"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Dear Sir/Madam,

Dear Sir/Madam,

With utmost good faith and sincerity, I am Alhaji Suleiman Barau (OON), Deputy Governor, Corporate Services Directorate of Central Bank of Nigeria serving since 13th day of December 2007 till date. I was born on the 14th of August, 1959; I finally attended University of Bradford, England. Before joining Central Bank of Nigeria in 2005, my banking experience was substantially in the areas of Treasury and Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Credit Analysis, Financial Institutions, Relationship Management and Private Banking. As Special Adviser to the Governor, I also gathered some Manufacturing and Currency Printing experience when I con-currently acted as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company from 2nd of March to 1st of June, 2007 and has been a Board Member of the same company since March 2005.

We started our payments files auditing few weeks ago and few days ago, it was a privilege to audit payment file N0; CBN/NNPC/FGN/0346 with contract N0: NNPC/PED/FGN/CBN/XX036/92 which I discovered the following discrepancies that made you not to receive the contract fund worth Thirty Million United States Dollars (US$30,000,000,00) from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Extreme confidentiality required on this project due to my position, reputation and integrity.

Frankly, I considered striking this deal directly with you as my foreign partner because I will be retired by December 2014. I have all the required information/ documents that proved the legitimacy of this project. As a matter of due process and urgency; you are only required to stand as the authorized next of kin to Late Mr. Bernard Wall and not the original contractor. I have already consulted a reputable Lawyer here that will prepare all the legal documentations on your behalf. I will handle the total cost. Note that, at the successful completion of this project, 60% to you as the authorized next of Kin, 30% to me and 10% to the Lawyer as his professional fee. The Lawyer will prepare the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to protect this above stated sharing ratio and the entire project.

If you are capable and trust worthy to handle this project, kindly reconfirm the following information as quickly as possible for immediate commencement of this project because full details of this project will be released to you as soon as you show sufficient interest on this matter. (1). Your Full Name (2). Residential Address and (3). Direct Telephone Number. I will send all the documents to you for verification as soon as I receive your positive response.
Yours Sincerely,

Alhaji Suleiman Barau (OON)
