"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: VERY IMPORTANT

Dear Partner,My name is Dr. Joseph Dogo. I am a professional bank manager in Burkina. With due respect, i made up my mind to confide to you a lucrative deal of US$4.2 million. The funds has been long in our coffers without claim due to death of the beneficiary who does not have any body succeed the account. He was a foreign contractor till death. During my personal assessment on the account for audit and re-documentation, I discovered that your name tally with name of the deceased. So i want you to stand as the successor/representative for the funds to be released to your account, so we can share it 50/50. For more details on how we will execute and share the funds, reply quickly.I am waiting.... Regards.Dr.Joseph Dogo
