"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Transfer Notification:

I am contacting you for a transfer of inheritance claim in our bank here
in London. I am Mr. Roy Wolf, Manager of ANZ Grindlays Bank
London, UK. happily married with a wife and three children, 2 boys
and 1 girl. I have worked with the bank for more than 10 years, I use
to head the Accounts department in my bank head office, but recently I
appointed to the position of manager of our branch here in London, as
finance director so I discovered an account with total sum of
($20,000,000.00 USD) the account has been dormant for long.
>From my investigation, I found out that this account belongs to one of
our clients from the Middle East a chemical engineer by profession,
who unfortunately lost his life in an automobile accident.

The account has no beneficiary and all effort to contact any one related to
him
failed. If no one comes to claim the fund it will be forfeited for
nothing so I decided to contact you so that you will stand as the next of
kin
to the late owner of the fund and we will work together to claim the fund
since I have all the information that will enable us claim as
inheritance fund and move it your account as the beneficiary of the
fund. On getting the fund gets to your account we will share it 40%
for you and 60% for me. Upon your positive response all the
documentation to legalize this transaction will be perfected in your
name to enable my bank to effect the payment of the fund to you as the
true beneficiary of the fund. I am waiting for your swift response.

Thanks,
Roy Wolf
