"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: I want to invest in your country

Dear Friend,

My name is Phillip Ibori the son of ex governor Delta State Mr. James Ibori. My father was the governor of one of the Oil rich states in Nigeria for 8 years and we have acquaired so much wealth for our selves. After some political crises between my father and his opponent the government indicted my father and desided to sieze our properties and money and jail my father. See the story via: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-17739388

Me being the elderly son, had saved US$9.5 Million dollars in safe keeping house in France. Due to the issue that my father has, we are being monitored to know if we still have money on us so they can seize it as well. This money is the only hidden treasure I have now to start up my life as a man.

I want you to help me secure this money and if there is any means we can invest it in your country, we will go ahead and invest it.

Right now, I am in South Africa where I am studying in the University.

If you are willing to help me, I will like you to contact me on phillipibori@yahoo.com with your full name, country of origin and your phone number so that we can proceed. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Phillip Ibori
